about

As a teenager growing up in the Redlynch Valley on the outskirts of Cairns in far north Queesnland, i was lucky enough to have a couple of horses. This song is a reflection of times spent riding around the valley, and a friendship that was struck by chance encounter when i was out riding one day. Whilst we were from slightly different worlds, we shared a strong connection through our love of horses, and adventure.

lyrics

We used to have so much fun
Riding through the cane
We’d saddle up our horses
Pack up lunch
And spend our time riding around all day

We met on an old school bus
I think I said something like hey
I saw you riding just the other day whoa oh hey hey
I saw you riding just the other day.

Ch:
I wanna see whats around that corner
I want to race up that hill
I want to outrun that farmer
Just to get a thrill
Whoa oh oh oh oh oh

We started up this friendship
Based on common ground
We’d spend our weekends getting lost
At no cost
and most of the time
we’d make it home before dark.

Sitting on horseback contemplating
Looking out over the valley view
The canefields and the mountains of forest
And maybe just a house or two in view.

Ch:

Rolling and racing and falling
Climbing new heights
Yeah when we went riding together,
Together we would fly, fly, fly
From the cane fields
And up into the mountains
From the mountains
And back down to the ocean la di da
Said what a living la di da
La di da said what a living.

Racing, contemplating, packing lunch what a view….

Leopold's Treat Gold Coast, Australia

Leopold's Treat recently took home the award for 'Emerging Artist of the Year' in the Gold Coast Music Awards, and are pretty excited about that. In a recent review of their single 'Cold River', Anthony Gebhardt (Blank GC) drew parallels to the vibe of the Waifs and concluded "one is left bathing in a warm glow as the sun sets and the cold river washes over and invigorates ones musical soul”. ... more
